All about Women Self Defense Classes
If you have often wondered if women self defense classes are a good way to learn to protect yourself, you are not alone. In fact, every year thousands of women sign up for classes to learn some basic techniques of self defense. And, for the most part, these types of classes are very successful.
No matter where you live, city, town, or country, you can rest assured that you will be able to find women self defense classes near you. While the type of class may vary from basic awareness and defense maneuvers to various martial arts programs, the goal of all of them is to help you develop self-confidence in your own ability to protect yourself by learning some basic techniques.
You may develop such an interest in self defense that you want to continue to take more classes and/or go on to become an expert in one of the martial arts. Some people believe that the martial arts are not the best way to protect yourself on the streets but that is something you will have to decide for yourself. Sometimes martial arts’ moves depend on the assailant and his approach. Sometimes it is handy to be able to use strategies from several martial arts to protect yourself, and other times you might just need to know some basic street fighting techniques.
Street fighting sometimes means that anything goes as long as it prevents you from being assaulted. That means pushing, kicking, biting, elbowing, or even head butting. Don’t be afraid to use anything that will work. Also don’t be afraid to supplement your own fighting techniques with weapons.
There are all kinds of non-lethal weapons that can make even the most determined attacker submissive. Pepper spray in the eyes is a good example as are stun guns and tasers. Knives are an excellent means of protection if you know how to use them. And the best protection of all is a loaded firearm aimed at the heart of your attacker. Whatever weapon you do use, make sure that it is legal in your country, state or city.
Even self defense stun guns are not legal everywhere nor are switchblades, though an assisted opening knife is legal and can solve this problem. Using whatever means possible to get away from your attacker should be your only concern if you are confronted with this type of violence. A stun gun can have an attacker on the ground for twenty minutes while you get away and dial 911.
Self defense classes can teach all of these different kinds of protective measures and introduce you to weapons that can help you fend off an attacker. Check your local newspaper for upcoming classes in your area or do a search online. You are bound to find a class is starting soon near you.
