That’s because it seems like everyone in the world has a cell phone. You see people talking on them everywhere–in the grocery or department store, in their automobiles and  on the street. Wherever you find people you will find cell phones.

So, walking down the street holding a cell phone is not going to raise anyone’s eyebrows. In fact, not having a cell phone is likely to give you more stares than having one. That’s why the cell phone is the perfect disguise for a stun gun. Even an attacker who knows it’s possible to have a stun gun cell phone is not going to be looking for one, simply because cell phones are so prevalent among every age group from teenagers to senior citizens.

The whole point of a stun gun is to disable an attacker long enough so that you can get away. Because people believe that a cell phone is such a necessity these days, no red flags are going to go up if you have one in your hand, on your belt, or in your purse. In fact, you can get cell phone stun guns with a wrist strap that doubles as a disarming pin.

One of the most common scenarios in an assault is the attacker taking a self protection device such as a stun gun away from the victim and then using it to disable the victim. Many of these cell phone stun guns have a wrist strap that is held onto the phone with a pin. If your attacker should discover your stun gun and try to pull it out of your hand, the pin will dislodge, making the gun unusable by the attacker.

Many of these cell phone stun guns also double as flashlights for protection in the dark, plus some have personal alarms which will go off and alert other people to your situation. Most of the stun guns which double as cell phone look-alikes have two-three lithium batteries instead of one 9-volt, like many of the original stun guns. A cell phone stun gun cannot be used as a working cell phone.

The cell phone functions just the same as a normal stun gun by making muscles work very fast and converting sugar into lactic acid. This takes all of the energy away from your attacker so it is difficult to move. Plus, at the same time electrical impulses confuse the signals the brain sends to the muscles. As a result, your attacker will be disoriented and lose their balance, giving you enough time to run away.

Stun guns are very effective because it only take a half a second of contact for it to work and if you can get three seconds of contact the attacker will be totally incapacitated. A stun gun has high voltage but low amps so the gun will not have any long-term effects.
